Mission Statement

To provide the clinician with a range of highly purified allograft materials allowing safe and effective structural support, along with bone regeneration and the ability to target and treat bone infection.

The Biofilm Phenomenon

The Challenge of Osteomyelitis

Osteomyelitis is a complex and challenging condition for both the patient and the healthcare professional. Biofilm infections adhere to substrates such as implanted devices and colonise necrotic bone. Here they secrete an extracellular polysaccharide matrix that cannot be penetrated by the patient’s immune system, or by systemic antimicrobials.

Bone Allograft of Human Origin

Products are manufactured at GMP compliant establishments. All donated human bone is compliant with EU and UK human tissue regulations. Bone is processed using the well-established technique of supercritical Carbon Dioxide (scCO2) extraction.

This process effectively removes lipids & cellular material and preserves the Bone Morphogenic Proteins (BMPs) within the bone structure. Impaction of the bonegraft during implantation can enable the release of BMPs and contribute to the stimulation of bone regeneration. Products are presented sterile packed following freeze drying and gamma irradiation.

The Winkler Technique

ERADICATE-REGENERATE

Why use bone allograft of human origin and why impregnate it with high-dose antibiotics?

Bone graft processed with scCO2  liberates the bone matrix and enables the impregnation of high-dose antibiotics during the manufacturing process. Effective strategies for treating osteomyelitis are described in clinical literature and highlighted in the technical brochure & clinical papers available to download from this website. Our products provide a mechanically desirable material capable of delivering high-dose antibiotic release at the site of implantation. The principals of action are to ERADICATE the infection and then provide a structure with advantageous characteristics to REGENERATE .

Discover More About OSTEOmycin™

Osteomyelitis is a complex and challenging condition for both the patient and the healthcare professional.

OSTEOmycin™ products are impregnated with high dose antibiotics that are released at the site of implantation.

This enables markedly elevated antibiotic concentrations to be delivered directly, targeting the biofilm infection. The bone graft then offers a structurally desirable environment for revascularisation and bone regeneration.
